Start with Hello Week
The week of September 24th-28 our school will be participating in the Start with Hello program. This program helps create a culture of inclusiveness that enables students and teachers to reach out to all children including those that may be feeling isolated or different and help them feel counted in and connected to their peers.
Special area teachers will be working with the children teaching them ways on how to connect with each other through fun and interactive activities. As a school we will be doing the following:
On Monday, we will be having a “Start with Hello Day,” where all students will be given a name tag sticker, so that all children can greet each other by name.
On Tuesday, Ms. Horvath will be taking some students and teachers to the “Positivity Bulletin Board” where they could write positive comments for all to see.
On Wednesday, we ask everyone, staff and students, to wear green to further promote awareness and call attention to Sandy Hook Promise’s “Start with Hello” Week.
On Thursday, children will be asked to sit in the cafeteria with children of other classes who may be sitting alone and will be given ice breakers to promote conversation and inclusiveness.
On Friday, morning announcements will be showcasing some of the wonderful activities special areas worked on during the week.
We look forward to an exciting week filled with activities that help children feel less isolated and more connected with their peers and their teachers.
